Oak staves are a responsible use of our precious oak forests and help conserve lumber resources. Our barrel aging system accomplishes the same oak flavoring as traditional oak barrels with 13 times  less oak reducing overall demand on resources.

PEFC certification

Our staves are all PEFC certified
The PEFC mark, which is stamped on oak-based products, certifies that both the owner of the forest and the company are committed to implementing sustainable forest-management practices.

The specific criteria for PEFC certification is customized for each country and region, but these are some general guidelines:
Native species are favored in reforestation and afforestation efforts

Forest managers ensure that key biotopes are protected, harvest levels and forest productivity are balanced and degraded forest ecosystems are rehabilitated
GMO materials are excluded for certification
Chemicals such as pesticides and herbicides be substituted by natural alternatives or minimized
